Accreditations

Verity Landcare is proud to be Safe Contractor approved and ISO 14001 accredited.

You would expect us to take the Health and Safety very seriously. Nothing is more important than ensuring a safe environment for not only our employees but our clients, residents and the general public.

We decided to join the Safe Contractor scheme thus ensuring we are fully aware of all new Health and Safety Regulations enabling us to call upon professionally qualified external information and advisory sources when necessary. Our clients can have full confidence in our comprehensive Health and Safety policy which ensures that all works are undertaken using the safest methods.

We take our local and global environment responsibilities very seriously, which is why we have taken on the challenge of ISO 14001 accreditation. This gives our clients the confidence and reassurance that all works being undertaken on their behalf are carried out in the most environmentally friendly manner.

Chemicals
All of our team leaders and experienced gardeners attend training courses to obtain licenses in the safe use of chemicals. These courses cover the safe storage and mixing of chemicals, emergency procedures covering contamination, spillage and reporting, understanding specific chemical labelling, the cleaning and calibration of equipment, specific dose rates, all necessary pre-commencement assessments, safety clothing, and the safe and appropriate use and maintenance of all equipment. These courses are independently run and assessed by accredited bodies.

Tree surgery
All tree surgeons are trained for their relevant tasks and tested by the National Proficiency Test Council and are therefore confident in the use of chainsaws, basic tree climbing, aerial rescue, felling of trees and stump grinding. All climbing tree surgeons are also trained to use chainsaws from a rope and harness. There is also specialist training covering the removal of trees in enclosed locations where particular rigging and dismantling operations are required. All tree surgeons have also completed and passed a four-day first aid at work course. Our tree surgery operations are carried out in accordance with modern arboricultural practice and follow the guidance given in BS:1989: Recommendations for tree works.
